AM I READY FOR CUSTOM GOLF CLUBS?

July 29 2015

Hi Jeff,

Just another question, as with many golfers, i'm always trying to improve my swing, tweaking it and making slight adjustments (thinking it will actually improve my game, haha).  Do i need to have an established swing to do a club fitting and customized clubs?

This is a very common question.

I think it is safe to say that we are all constantly trying to improve our swing, making tweaks and adjustments.

Do you wait untill your swing is “where you want it” or do you address your equipment at this point in time?

TITLEIST 915 METAL WOODS REVIEW

October 08 2014

Titleist has launched it’s new line up of woods for 2015 which will be available at retail November 14th.

I had the pleasure of testing the full line of drivers, fairways and hybrids recently and I was impressed as always with Titleist’s new line up. The look and the feel of these clubs are fantastic! They will likely find there way into my bag for my trips down south this winter.

The line up remains similar with some subtle changes in loft offerings. The offerings include:

THE IMPORTANCE OF CUSTOM BUILDING GOLF CLUBS

July 17 2014

How important is having your new or even existing golf clubs custom fit for your personal and unique swing?

Very important!  Every touring pro, golf coach and manufacturer talks about the importance of having properly fitted equipment and it applies even more so to the amateur golfer who doesn't have the skill level to adapt to ill fit equipment.

So how important is it to have a custom club builder - someone you can trust to understand and have the knowledge of how to build your custom fit clubs so the final product is exactly what you were fitted for?

Very important!... read more

THE IMPORTANCE OF CLUB FITTING

May 29 2014

Do you remember that feeling of anticipation, hope and excitement you had when you went to play that first round of golf with the clubs you are currently using?

Are you still excited when you play them today?  Why?  What's changed?  How can I get those initial feelings to return, and last?

The answer may lie in the simple straightforward question .... " Have my clubs been properly fit and built just for me?"

Custom fitting is more than hitting a number of different clubs off a rack to see which one feels better than the rest, and custom building... read more

SCOR WEDGE

May 05 2014

Let’s talk wedges. Are you still playing wedges that were designed 50 years ago? Does your wedge and your buddies wedge ‘look’ the same except for the “Brand”?

We are all aware of how the technology has changed in drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons. What about the wedges?

  • The wedge was initially designed to ‘get you out of the bunkers’. It was a simple design. They all had and still have a low concentration of weight in the sole, with a thin face in the upper portion. What about bounce?
  • ;How much do you need?
  • What should that... read more

OBAN KIYOSHI TOUR LIMITED GOLF SHAFT REVIEW

March 31 2014

The Setup

The Oban Kiyoshi Tour LTD 60 gram in 04 (Stiff Flex) assembled to 45" with a PURE Pro Standard black grip.  The head used for this testing was the Callaway Big Bertha Alpha set to 8* “D” setting with the Gravity Core weight installed to promote lower spin.

Look

The colour combinations of the golf shafts and heads I fit to the individual are always secondary to the performance numbers, but when the cosmetics blend nicely such is the case with this combination, it is certainly a nice bonus.  The... read more

CALLAWAY BIG BERTHA ALPHA DRIVER REVIEW

March 26 2014

The Setup

This product review is of the Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 9*, The head was set to 8* D and the Gravity Core was installed for low spin.

Look

As you know the Callaway BB has been one of the most talked about products for 2014.  The shape of the head is very much reminiscent of the original big bertha.  The head is very compact looking from the top as it is has a deeper pear shaped profile.  This took me a little getting used to coming from my Titleist 913 D3.  Although both heads are... read more

I’m really happy with the results. I definitely noticed the lower trajectory with an “arching” ball flight which is what we were trying to achieve. Obviously I’m still tweaking my golf swing to be more consistent but when I’m swinging well the ball flight is great and flies straight or with a slight draw. Thanks again!     Kim O

First 3 games with the driver here in Florida...88, 82, 77. Hit this one 312...used a Bushnell to measure. Longest so far is 335 with a little wind helping. Still getting used to it but percentages are going up. Feels fantastic. Thank you. Tony I
